So how is Global Church Ministries Network supposed to work? As always the bible has all the answers to these questions. So lets look at how it worked in apostolic days. We thank God for Paul because through His life and Ministry God has revealed so much to us.
Romans chapter 16 is a good place to start. When you read, you can see that Paul worked within a huge network of ministries and here we see him greet those involved in that network: he calls sister phoebe a servant of the church and commends her (v1), he called Prisca and Aquila, his fellow workers in Christ, he calls Andronicus and Junia, his fellow prisoners, who were in the Lord before him and well-know by the apostles (v6), he calls Urbanus, his fellow worker in Christ (v9), he calls Timothy his fellow worker in Christ, Titus, the one who wrote the letter to the Romans, Gaius, his host the list goes on.
Later in the book of Corinthians Paul will emphasise on those things again,
5 What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.
7 So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. 9 For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building..
The church is Gods field and building and we have been called to be Fellow Workers or Co-workers. It is not about who is the boss or who is in charge, it is not about who is the greatest and who is the least. It is about networking to build his church. The network makes sure that there is order in the work, it makes sure that there is accountability among co-workers, it makes sure that all the wolves in the clothes of sheep are easily detected and exposed . Global Church Ministries Network will ensure that the churches are always provided for in ministry. Ministries were given to the church and not the other way around. We want to ensure that ministries serve the church effectively.
But networking is only possible and effective through developing relationships and friendships. This is the basis on which we want to work. Referring to Romans 16, you can see that Paul knew his co-workers personally, he has been persecuted with some of them and been even in prison with some of them. They were united in purpose.
One of the great things about the network Paul worked with was that he wasnt doing all the work by himself, everyone was involved at all levels. Paul sent Epaphroditus to Philippi to serve the church there and help meet their needs, but it wasnt a random guy he was sending, Epaphroditus was his brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier and someone who has ministered to him personally. There was a clear fellowship and relationship. It was only on this basis that he was able to recommend him to the Philippians church.
This was true for most of Pauls associates and fellow workers in Christ. This will be one of our emphasis at Global Church Ministries Network.
As I said earlier, the mandate if Global Church Ministries Networkis twofold: networking and equipping. So far we have seen how the networking is based fellowship, friendship and relationship. The second part of the mandate is equipping, but equipping who? churches through church ministries. We will put a great emphasis on training the members in ou network because those who are sent to the churches to serve will not be effective without being properly equip. So we will put in place training structures and system to ensure that we are all fully equipped.
In the end it is about connecting church ministries to the churches. It i about ensuring that churches use ministries effectively to expand and grow. For as it is written,
7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
8 Therefore it says, When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men. 11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. 15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
23 As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker for your benefit. And as for our brothers, they are messengers of the churches, the glory of Christ. 2 Corinthians. 8
15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. ESV
15but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the headChrist16from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
